Expectations

“He who is not disturbed by anything, who is unaffected by pleasure and pain, he is fit for immortality.” – Bhagavad Gita

Your expectations were never meant to be fully met in this life. Accept that truth—but don’t let it cause you to lower the bar. Don’t stop chasing the ideal.

Instead, situate your expectations properly. In many matters, you may be better off without any expectations at all. When you expect with wisdom, you stop reacting like the common man.

It appears that most around you choose to ride a wild emotional roller coaster—highs inflated by anticipation, and lows crushed by disappointment. But you can step off that ride.

You can still experience surprise. You can still be moved by the unexpected. But when your expectations are grounded, your reactions are not dictated by circumstance. You remain steady—your disposition calm, your mind clear.

This doesn’t make you cold or indifferent. Quite the opposite. You allow yourself to feel fully, but you respond with intentionality, not impulse.

Become even-keeled, grounded, unfazed. Inwardly, allow yourself the richness of emotional experience—without being mastered by it.
