Not Enough
Not talented enough. Not prepared enough. Not smart enough, not athletic enough, not disciplined enough. Just — not enough.
You know the voice. It has followed you your whole life, and it is very good at its job. It gets specific. It knows exactly which inadequacy to press on any given morning, and it presses.
So here is the truth, and it is going to be harsh, because you have been coddling this thing for years and it has cost you.
You are right. Today, as you are, you are probably not enough.
Not enough for the thing you want. The gap between where you stand and what you are reaching for is real, and the voice is not lying about its size. Every man who ever built anything started exactly here — standing at the foot of something, painfully aware he did not yet have what it would take.
The difference is what he did with the "not enough."
He used it as fuel. You use it as a reason to hide. That is the entire distinction, and it is the only one that matters. "Not enough" is not a verdict on your worth. It is a description of your current inventory, and inventory is the one thing in your life you are allowed to change. The voice says not enough and means give up. The truth says not enough and means not yet — go get more.
And now the part you really do not want to hear.
The masks are the reason you are still not enough. The bravado, the fake confidence, the puffed-up performance — that is not covering the gap, it is protecting it, keeping the wound warm and hidden so it never has to heal. And the quiet mask is worse. The false humility, the "oh, I'm not that good" you say before anyone can test you — that is not modesty. That is you lowering the bar so low that you never have to find out. You have been managing the appearance of your inadequacy instead of fixing it, and you have called that survival.
It is not survival. It is a slow, comfortable way of staying not enough forever.
You cannot argue your way out of this. You cannot affirm it away in the mirror, and you cannot mask it into silence. There is exactly one thing on earth that quiets the "not enough" voice, and it is not a feeling.
It is evidence.
Go and become enough. Do the reps the voice says are pointless. Prepare past the point where you would normally hide. Stand up and get tested and let yourself fail in the open and come back and do it again, until one day you look up and notice the voice has gone quiet — not because you beat it in an argument, but because you buried it under proof it could not deny.
You are not enough yet.
Yet is the whole word. Yet is the only word.
Now go earn the right to drop it.
