Question Your Impressions
“Impressions, then, are not under our control; but our judgments are.” – Epictetus
Impressions arrive in your mind instantaneously—often uninvited and unfiltered.
They flash in without warning, forming thoughts, feelings, even judgments before you’ve had a chance to think.
Remind yourself of the truth: Not every impression is accurate. Not every feeling is truth. Not every thought deserves your belief.
Before you react, pause and Ask:
Where did this impression come from?
Is it based on truth or assumption?
Is it mine, or was it planted by bias, past experience, or fear?
Your mind is a thinking machine—not just a receiving one. So use it.
Even a single breath of reflection can protect you from foolish conclusions and false judgments.
Don’t be ruled by first thoughts. Be governed by clear ones.
Pause. Question. Think. Then act.
