The Mere Moment

You are spending everything on the part of you that ends.

The body. The appetites. The standing, the wins, the things the world can see and take. You pour your hours into all of it as if it were permanent. None of it is.

This world is a moment. A short one. Set against what you actually are, it is already nearly over.

There is a part of you that is not on that clock. Your soul. The part that keeps your word when no one is watching. The part that chooses right when wrong is easier. The part that will outlast every possession you are currently killing yourself to protect.

Feed that part.

Not because the body does not matter — you were given it, and you honor it by keeping it strong. But do not submit to it. Do not let the temporary thing govern the eternal one. When the appetite and the soul want different things, you already know which one is worth listening to. You just have to choose it.

Live for the part of you that stays.

The rest is a mere moment, and it is passing while you read this.
