You want to be the man nothing touches.
Drop it. He does not exist. The man who looks unbothered is not calm by nature — he is getting knocked off center all day long, same as you. You just never see the correction.
His secret is not the one you wanted. Unbothered is not a state you reach and then own. It is not a temperament you are born with or a peace you finally arrive at. It is a return. Something pulls you off, and you refocus. Something else pulls you off, and you refocus again. A thousand times a day, most of them invisible.
It is not serenity. It is recovery speed.
And the only thing that makes the return faster is reps. You refocus badly and slowly at first, like anything untrained. You do it ten thousand times and it gets quicker, quieter, until from the outside it looks like nothing moves you.
Know this going in: it never becomes free. Even trained, even strong, the pull is real and the return costs something every single time. You do not graduate from this. You just get faster at coming back.
Stop waiting to become unbothered.
Start practicing the return.
"You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." — Marcus Aurelius
