The man who feels nothing has not risen above suffering. He has dropped beneath it.
Suffering is not the proof that something is wrong. Most of the time it is proof that you are still in it — still reaching for something hard enough to hurt, still exposed, still playing a game that can cost you. The numb man is not winning. He quit so quietly he called it peace.
To suffer over a thing means you still care enough to bleed for it. It means you have not gone cold, have not lowered the stakes to where nothing can reach you. The absence of pain is not always strength. Sometimes it is just surrender with the lights off.
When it burns, read it correctly. The burn means you are still on the field, still paying to be there, still alive to the cost.
That is not a curse to escape.
Suffering is a privilege.
