Hold the Line

You are too accommodating, and you have convinced yourself it is a virtue.

You call it flexibility. Being easy to work with. But hear the real diagnosis: you are being taken advantage of. Not someday — now. The people around you noticed long before you did, and they have been taking the slack you keep handing out. A man who never holds a position is a man whose position is free to take.

Hold the line. Not spinelessly bending on everything, not rigidly defending your ego on everything — firm where it matters, flexible where it does not, from confidence, never from pride.

If you bend to everyone, you stand for nothing. No one can tell what you value, because you value whatever the last person wanted. You did not just lose leverage. You lost your center.

Pick the ground that matters and hold it. Then watch how people respond.

The ones who adjust and stay respected you all along. The ones who rage that you stopped bending were the ones exploiting you.
